Top Gun: Maverick

This movie is really good, the only weird part is Mr Scientology staring me down during some scenes. But the action and everything else is good

Very well-written and well-shot. The story felt basic; it never surprised me. The flying scenes were cool but dragged out too long with little variety. Penny is kind of annoying. My list of problems with this movie is pretty small, but my list of things I enthusiastically like is also pretty small. Watch it if you want.

While Top Gun: Maverick is a nostalgia trip for sure, it's unique enough to be considered its own film. Many things in this movie are similar to the original, but things like the plot and characters make it just different enough. The plot is gripping and intense, keeping you locked in at all times. The characters, new and old, are good and have fun interactions. To be fair though, there were a lot of curse words and unanswered questions. You also have to be in the mood for or generally enjoy this type of stuff, or at least have seen the first one... if that makes sense. This movie definitely had a threshold to stay within, being in the shadow of the first movie, but it did everything it could to be a terrific film.

Top Gun: Maverick, the long-awaited sequel, is not only good; it's great. It benefits from a simple story and the action sequence is great along with fan service. Most movies tried to do either: build on their cinematic universe or start a new one or have a complex story. Maverick held up and was a lot of fun.

The action scenes are insane and they are the best parts of the movie. Sadly, the rest of the movie is kind of meh. The story is cliche and predictable. It isn't very funny, and the acting is passable. Watch it for the action scenes, but don't expect much else.
