The Queen Is Dead

During the 80’s a bunch of British punk bands didn’t know what to do with their sound. Their whole style revolved around being messy and underproduced and they faced a decade where the most popular music was polished and futuristic. Some bands adapted well (Talking Heads, The Stranglers), but I don’t know what to make of The Smiths. This album’s good but it’s clear that the Smiths are at their best as a punk band rather than a rock band.
